Artist Profile

Bo Cerrudo has found his niche. In the few years since he ‘reinvented’ himself by going back to his musical roots, the dramatic ascent of this premiere classical balladeer has been breathtaking in its speed and unrivaled in its triumph.

Versatile … Brilliant … Dynamic … Artiste Naturale … These have been used to describe this exceptional artist who was introduced to music lovers 25 years ago as Bimbo Cerrudo. Blessed with a cool, solid baritone voice, he could interpret any song from radio-friendly rock to R&B and soulful ballads, and everything else in between.

He released two albums, namely: an eponymous debut effort which spawned the hit remake “Pag Tumatagal Lalong Tumitibay”, and the 90’s ballroom dancing-inspired Retro Dancing. Thanks to extensive airplay and a full-throttle slate of solo concerts, he earned the nod of music critics. It was in musical stage plays where his discipline and spontaneity were honed and polished. He was able to snag plum roles in major musicals, among them Wang Ta in “Flower Drum Song”, Tony in “West Side Story”, Rama in “Rama Hari” and the Manila run of “Miss Saigon”, to name a few. He received rave reviews for his sensitive and fiery performances in every one of these endeavors. He dazzled foreign audiences via sell-out concerts in the US, Asia, Middle East and Europe, even performing on several occasions as ambassador of goodwill for the Philippine Department of Tourism. As a result, he has established a solid following composed of overseas Filipinos and foreigners alike.

Today, as a decidedly more mature and seasoned artist, Bo brings the passion and gift of his classical voice training to the interpretation of romantic pop songs and standards, bringing a sense of opera into the mainstream and stirring his audiences in the process. His series, “Cerrudo: Classico” is the longest-running concert series of its kind, having staged over 100 shows since its inception in 2005.

For Bo Cerrudo, the past 25 years have been an incredible journey. He recently triumphed anew as the 2011 Aliw awardee as “Best Male Performer in Hotels, Music Lounges and Bars”, further sealing his stellar status in the entertainment industry. But instead of resting on his laurels, he continues to find ways to reinvent himself and his craft. He considers every new undertaking as an opportunity to learn, and to further his growth as an artist and as a person. Bo is poised to take his career to even greater heights.
